Carnival Cruise Ship Back Sailing After Completing Dry Dock

Carnival Miracle retired to service this week after completing a regular scheduled dry dock. The Carnival cruise ship is one of the very few cruise ships that has undergone dry docking in the United States, whereas most Carnival cruise ships have maintenance performed in Italy or the Bahamas.

Besides regularly scheduled maintenance to technical areas, the Spirit-class cruise ship also received her new colors, the stunning blue, white, and red hull that has become synonymous with Carnival Cruise Line in recent years. Carnival Miracle has picked up her scheduled itineraries on the west coast, sailing from Long Beach.

Carnival Cruise Line Makes Several Changes Onboard Miracle

Carnival Miracle has completed her regular scheduled dry dock, which incorporates several changes to the vessel. The Spirit-class cruise ship arrived in Astoria, Portland, earlier this month, one of the few Carnival Cruise Line ships that used a US-based shipyard for its maintenance.

In the last couple of weeks, Carnival implemented several changes to the vessel, including a new livery and some interior changes. Carnival Miracle now sports the new blue, white, and red livery, which has already been applied to the majority of Carnival cruise ships in the last two years.

Carnival Cruise Line has also removed a key part of the casino, the Casino Bar. The spot used to be a popular gathering spot for many people, as it stayed open late and was one of the few spots where people could smoke without having to go outside.

As Carnival has made it a policy that only players are allowed to smoke while seated and playing, the bar’s popularity has dropped. Instead of the bar, Carnival expanded the casino.

Other enhancements that have taken place onboard the ship over the last couple of weeks include routine hotel maintenance and cosmetic enhancements such as new carpeting, tile work, new furniture, and new fabrics in lounges and public areas.

Although the hope was there that Carnival would open a Big Chicken onboard Carnival Miracle, this did not happen during the recent dry dock.

Carnival added no new food and beverage outlets, something the cruise line did do in 2020 when it added JavaBlue Cafe, Bonsai Sushi Express, Guy’s Burger Joint, BlueIguana Cantina and BlueIguana Tequila Bar, and the RedFrog Rum Bar and BlueIguana Tequila Bar.

The Spirit-class, 88,500 gross tons Carnival Miracle was built in 2004 at the Kvaerner Masa Yards in Helsinki, Finland. The cruise ship has space for 2,124 guests at double occupancy and 2,680 guests at full occupancy.

Carnival Returns to Los Angeles

After making her way down from Portland, Carnival Miracle returned to Long Beach in the past week to resume her regular scheduled itineraries, which started with a 5-night cruise to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, on November 22.

On November 27, Carnival Miracle will sail a 14-night cruise to Hawaii. Sailing from the Long Beach Cruise Terminal, the ship will visit Honolulu on December 2, followed by Kahului, Kailua Kona, and Hilo, Hawaii. After a visit to Ensenada, Mexico, she will return to Los Angeles on December 11.
